From ancient times in Japan, the shape of the Chrysanthemum flower has been likened to the sun, and regarded as a symbol driving away evil spirits. The flower is also depicted in the Japanese royal emblem, with the stylised chrysanthemum blossom used as an imperial symbol, and as crests for recognition. In addition, ancient Asian folklore believes that drinking the fresh dew collected from Chrysanthemums helps to lengthen one’s life. Thus, its blossoms have come to symbolise longevity and good fortune in the Japanese culture.
