The El Casco company was founded by Juan Solozábal Mendive and Juan Olav Bilbao on September 7, 1920, and initially specialized in the production of high-end revolvers .

In the 1920s, El Casco began producing only firearms , but after the 1929 crisis, the company's management decided to replace weapons production with office supplies, which were manufactured on the same equipment. The first such product was a numbering and date stamping machine. In 1934, the first stapler was released , and the M-5 model, still found in 21st-century markets, was invented.
