This Zao Wou Ki print 赵无极版画趙無極版畫 is for sale in Singapore and it is one of the eight etchings that Zao Wou Ki created for the series "Canto Pisan" to illustrated the text of Ezra Pound. In 1972, it was published by Pierre Belfond, Paris and printed by Atelier Bellini in a limited edition of only 150 hand signed and numbered impressions. A further of 30 HC proofs were made at the same time.

This colour etching is hand signed in pencil by the late artist, Zao Wou Ki, in Chinese and Pinyin at the lower right margin. The technique used in this original hand signed and Numbered Colour is Etching and Aquatint on wove paper It is Hand Numbered in pencil "XXX/150 " at the lower left margin. Paper size: 50.1 x 32.7 cm / 19.7 x 12.9 in Image size: 32.8 x 26.7 cm / 12.9 x 10.5 in The print is now framed. About Zao Wou Ki

Zao Wou Ki was a Chinese-French painter who spent much of his life in Paris. Born in Beijing in 1920, he trained at the School of Art in Hangzhou where he learned brush-and-ink techniques and the traditions of Chinese art history. He did a period of pupilege under renown artist Lin Fengmian, who practiced a hybrid of European modernism and Chinese forms and would eventually become known as a pioneer of modern Chinese painting. Zao Wou Ki made the world stood up and noticed his works with his monumental abstract painting Juin—Octobre 1985 (1985) which sold for $65 million at Sotheby’s Hong Kong on Sunday, setting a new auction record for the Chinese-French artist, and exceeding its pre-sale high estimate of $45 million. The Zao Wou Ki Foundation was established to promote the life and art of the painter Zao Wou-Ki through 1920 to 2013.

Through its work, the Foundation honours the artist and safeguards his art through education to ensure the transmission of his creative vision to a younger generation.
