Elephant & Coral is proud to host a successful philanthropic forum dedicated to the life and legacy of Tan Kah Kee, an iconic figure known for his remarkable philanthropic contributions to education.
The event honours 150th Anniversary of Tan Kah Kee 陈嘉庚 of which his granddaughter, Madam Peggy Tan, shared about his legacy “A Philanthropist with a Difference” as part of the book she authored.
The event brought together thought leaders, charity foundations, philanthropists and customers of Elephant & Coral to explore the lasting impact of Tan Kah Kee’s work and the lessons collaborative philanthropy can learn from his unique approach.
Her Excellency Madiepetsane Charlotte Lobe, High Commission of South Africa to Singapore and Her Excellency Francisca Kemi Omayuli, Chargé d’Affaires en titre of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Singapore to grace the event.
Ms. Catherine Loh, CEO of Community Foundation Singapore, shared about the works of Community Foundation Singapore and a newly launched initiative Collective for a Stronger Society, which is a new platform that will bring together donors, non-profits, public and private organisations to offer a coordinated series of cross-sector programmes and initiatives to uplift, enable and empower lower-income families in Singapore.
It aims to raise awareness of the socio-economic challenges faced by lower-income families through informational events, foster collaboration among partners to develop comprehensive solutions, and ultimately, seek to inspire contributions of both financial and non-financial resources to address these challenges effectively.
Guests shared views in lively exchanges during the forum and also during the reception over coffee and snacks.
It is a privilege for Elephant & Coral to be a convener for this philanthropy event in support of Singapore being a growing hub for family offices and as a philanthropy hub for the region.
