The World’s Smallest Pencil by Faber-Castell
The message of “Simplicity is a Luxury” best described the simple lined products and the warm materials used on each product of Faber Castell.
There were close to 50 pieces of small pencils that were made, and Elephant & Coral was fortunate enough to have purchased and received as gifts some of “The World’s Smallest Pencil” – one of which was a gift from Count Andreas Faber-Castell when he visited Elephant & Coral to officiate the opening of the shop-in-shop.
What is so special about “The World’s Smallest Pencil”? First of all, the pencil lead is made of real graphite and the pencil itself is made of the same wood as if it is a real pencil. Measuring 1.75cm and presented in a box in Faber-Castell’s signature green colour, it is probably similar in length to the Waterman Doll pen.
Three lucky customers who have been with Elephant & Coral over many years were given this pencil free. This pencil now sits gracefully within Elephant & Coral’s boutique ever since as memorabilia of the goodwill shared between Elephant & Coral and Graf von Faber-Castell.
Elephant & Coral first started selling Graf von Faber-Castell in November 1997 at Holland Road Shopping Centre. At that time, it was just one vertical vitrine with several layers of pens featuring the classic wood range in Pernambuco wood, Ebony wood and the sterling silver collection.
Fast forward to 2001, Elephant & Coral represented Graf von Faber-Castell’s first shop-in-shop in Asia with the images and collaterals of Graf von Faber-Castell. We welcome you to visit us whenever you are in Mandarin Gallery along Orchard Road.
