Namiki Yukari Turtles Rollerball Pen

Turles are symbols of longevity and an ideal gift for birthdays. The amphibians are drawn using togidashi, takamaki and jim maki-e against a black lacquer background. As in all quality masterpiece, the rocks executed in shishiai togidashi makie to give it the three dimension effect. The artist, Michifumi Kawaguchi 川口倫史 is an extremely talented artist.  He is rumoured to be taking a break from his work and hence many of his masterpieces will not be available from 2016 onwards.  Some of the more notable works by Michifumi Kawaguchi include Namiki Pink Goose, Namiki Yukari Royal Fall Flowers and Namiki Yukari Pavilion are now extremely rare and collectible. Each Namiki Yukari Turtles Rollerball comes with an elegant presentation box.

About Namiki

Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki. This partnership has continued to the present day (occasionally Namiki makes a Limited Edition for Dunhill) although Namiki has always been owned by Pilot.

The premium Namiki ranges include the Emperor Collection, Yukari Royal, and Yukari Collection, and this is the brand used by Pilot to sell their the high valued Maki-e pens worldwide.
