Namiki Yukari Royal Court Carriage in Wisteria

The Namiki Yukari Royal Court Carriage in Wisteria displays a violet foliage of wisteria in taka maki-e high relief lacquer as it cascades gracefully from the top the cap. To give the pen an antique feel, highly talented urushi master, Masato Sato uses togidashi maki-e  applied onto the jim-maki background to give the entire pen a mellow and archaic look.  Specifically, the court carriage motif was used because during the Heian period (A.D. 792—1185), the nobility decorated their carriages and litters with their crests to show nobility and social status. The intricate craftsmanship highlights many details using bokashi and nashiji technique of gold dust sprinkling and decorative flowing ribbons.  With a Yukari Royal size fitted with a size 20 18kt gold nib, it is just the perfect size pen for daily use and collection. About Namiki

Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki. This partnership has continued to the present day (occasionally Namiki makes a Limited Edition for Dunhill) although Namiki has always been owned by Pilot.

The premium Namiki ranges include the Emperor Collection, Yukari Royale, and Yukari Collection, and this is the brand used by Pilot to sell their the high valued Maki-e pens worldwide.
