The Namiki Panda Limited Edition Fountain Pen (c. Fall 1998) was inspired by one of the most popular animal in the world—the Panda. Pandas are revered as a national treasure by the government of China. Yet the giant panda is one of the most endangered species on the earth. They are severely threatened by poaching and the erosion of their habitat and bamboo food supply. Namiki supports the efforts like San Diego Zoo™s Centre for Reproduction of Endangered Species (RES) programs to save the Pandas. Only 700 pieces of Limited edition pens are made using taka maki-e technique of lacquering to illustrate the playfulness and whimsical poses of the Giant Panda. The Namiki Panda Limited Edition is one of the few Yukari sized Limited Edition of Namiki that were ever produced. Recommended for collectors as this is one of the six Yukari sized Namiki Limited edition pen collection ever produced. Namely the Namiki White Tiger, Panda, Bald Eagle, King Cobra, Owl and the Seahorse Limited edition.
