About Namiki

Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki. This partnership has continued to the present day (occasionally Namiki makes a Limited Edition for Dunhill) although Namiki has always been owned by Pilot.

The premium Namiki ranges include the Emperor Collection, Yukari Royal, and Yukari Collection, and this is the brand used by Pilot to sell their the high valued Maki-e pens worldwide.

Pillars of Namiki Pens

There are three main characteristic pillars of Namiki Pens.

The Ultimate Japanese Beauty

Namiki pen is the ultimate decorative beauty for a pen because Maki-e fountain pens use traditional Japanese lacquer work of "Maki-e". The tedious but meticulous  fine  designs by the craftsmen are  the crystallization of aesthetic  Japanese beauty.

Japanese lacquer

Lacquer is Japan in every sense of its word. It is an excellent varnish which has been used in Japan since ancient times. Not only does lacquer or urushi in Japanese,  possess strong and durable qualities, the more when one uses it,  the more gracefully it fits into your hand while retaining its lustre charm.

Dedication To care For Fountain Pen

In Namiki, the pen points like the iridium tip, as well as the  fountain pen nibs are all done within the company.  Namiki spares no effort to ensure the quality, precision and detail in every process during the production of a Namiki Pen.  Placing the writing touch and quality of the fountain pen is the strongest belief that sets Namiki pens apart from any other brands, be they Japanese or any other brands.
