The Namiki Yukari Hydrangea Raden Fountain Pen carries a meaningful flower, the Hydrangea.  The meaning and symbol of  was first discovered in Japan, the name hydrangea comes from the Greek "hydor," meaning water, and "angos," meaning jar or vessel. This roughly translates to "water barrel," referring to the hydrangea's need for plenty of water and its cup-shaped flower.

 Each pen is decorated using raden abalone shells  to give the glimmer against a togidashi makie background.  The Namiki Yukari Hydrangea Raden Fountain Pen is fitted with an 18kt gold nib and fills using a knob filler.

Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki.
