Pilot Antique Makie Lovebird Fountain Pen
Pilot Antique Makie Lovebird Fountain Pen
The romance of a pair of Lovebirds perched on cherry blossom branches is a very pleasing sight. This makie pen was made c. 1980s showing a pair of Birds of Paradise painted by the skillful hands of makie artist Sei Katsuta. The most attractive sight of this pen is to see the long slender tail feathers of the Birds of Paradise flows along the barrel. Each bird is highlighted with high relief lacquer (taka makie) against a black background on the Pilot Antique Makie pen. To bring about contrast to the Pilot Antique Makie Lovebird Fountain Pen, gold powder (kimpun) was sprinkled on the cap and barrel artistically to create depth to the perspective. Writing with the 18kt gold nib pen is certainly a great pleasure as it glides on paper. Condition is excellent and it comes complete with a box.
