Namiki Chinkin Dragon Fountain Pen (New) captures the dragon in three-dimensional feel, is chiselled by dots and lines, which are then inlaid with gold and blue gold powder. To highlight the figure of the dragon, the whity gold powder is used to finish the clouds on this magnificent Emperor size Namiki pen. The dragon is a symbol of both strength and good fortune. In ancient India, the Nagas (Dragon God) had both benevolent and malevolent forms. In China, th Azure Dragon is one of the Four Gods guarding the Four Cardinal Directions. Appearing among swirling clouds, the dragon glares at the ground with a piercing expression. In the design, the dragon clasps the Cintamani wish-fulfilling gem, which is represented by the ball at the tip of the pen clip to bring out the brilliance of the gem. The Namiki Master Artisan, Yasuji Sumi, using the chinkin technique to carve the dragon with dots and line, and the cloud and wave with dots. Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki. This partnership has continued to the present day (occasionally Namiki makes a Limited Edition for Dunhill) although Namiki has always been owned by Pilot. The premium Namiki ranges include the Emperor Collection, Yukari Royale, and Yukari Collection, and this is the brand used by Pilot to sell their the high valued Maki-e pens worldwide.
