Namiki Rakucho Bird Fountain Pen
Namiki Rakucho Bird Fountain Pen which is an imaginary bird that flies about in paradise. A pair of male and female Rakucho birds serenading each other with lovely song are depicted vividly by using Taka (Raised) Maki-e.
The affection between the pair of birds suggests hopes of a long and happy marriage. The petals on the weeping cherry are inlaid with coloured Raden (Mother-of-pearl) polished to a fine finish. The trunk of the cherry tree in the background is painted using the Oh-hi-nuri (painting as cherry blossom bark), a traditional Kawarinuri painting technique. This continuous pattern suggests a wish for the "eternity".
The fantastic No. 50 18 karat gold nib is incredibly large writing instrument.
This fountain pen has an eyedropper filling system. It uses the same ink stopping function as the original Namiki eyedropper pens from the 1930's, which regulates the flow and prevents leakage.
