Namiki Emperor Quail Fountain Pen
The Namiki Emperor Quail Fountain Pen is also known as Namiki Emperor Obana Fountain Pen. Made by chief urushi artist of Namiki's Kokokai, Kyusai Yoshida, this is one of the most sought after fountain pen by many pen collectors. Kyusai Yoshida, the chief lacquer artist of Namiki's Kokokai, single handedly made the Namiki Emperor Quail Fountain Pen with high relief taka maki-e on the quail motif. On closer look, you can see the feathers of the quail as well. The maize plants which rise above the quails at the background are aesthetically position as if flowers are sprouting from the pen barrel. Togidashi burnishish maki-e are applied to the ends of the pen on both cap and barrel to give it the archaic feel of the pen. The emperor size pen comes in a large jumbo 50 18kt gold nib for enhanced writing experience. Together with the Namiki Pavillion Emperor, Namiki Prey Mantis Emperor and Namiki White Tiger Limited Edition; these are the starting pens which collectors will usually start to collect when they have a small collection.
