Namiki Yukari Royal Chinkin Fighting Cock Fountain Pen

Heralding in the dawn with its crowing, Roosters are believed to dispel evil spirits as they chase darkness away with the light of day. Dating back to ancient times, cockfighting is said to be the world's oldest spectator sport that is prevalent in almost every part of the world. in Japan's ancient times during the Nara and Heian perios, Cockfighting is also used for fortune telling eventually known as "Tori-Awase", an event at the Imperial court to mark the seasonal festival throught Japan. Continuing the Namiki traditions of its delicate and fine depiction of Japanese emblems and mythological creatures on its fountain pens, Namiki Yukari Royal Chinkin Fighting Cock Fountain Pen or Royal Rooster Pen, have been unveiled as the latest treasure to the Namiki Chinkin collection.

Applying the Chinkin (Gold Inlay) technique with a special carving chisel, the surface of the pen is first coated with ro-iro lacquer before inlaying the carved patterns with precious metal leaf and gold powder for refined finish. After which the use of Senbori (Linear carving) is applied on the Fighting Cock motif to depict the full  zest and vigor of its assertive gaze, ready to pounce on its opponent. The highly-meticulous Chinkin technique is considered a leading Japanese traditional lacquer-ware technique only yielded by artisans of extensive exprience with an immense strength of mind. Once embarked on its carving journey, it cannot be corrected even if an error is made - leaving no room for mistakes.  Fully handcrafted by Namiki Kokokai's artist Yasuji Sumi. Pillars of Namiki Pens

There are three main characteristic pillars of Namiki Pens.

The Ultimate Japanese Beauty

Namiki pen is the ultimate decorative beauty for a pen because Maki-e fountain pens use traditional Japanese lacquer work of "Maki-e". The tedious but meticulous  fine  designs by the craftsmen are  the crystallization of aesthetic  Japanese beauty.

Japanese lacquer

Lacquer is Japan in every sense of its word. It is an excellent varnish which has been used in Japan since ancient times. Not only does lacquer or urushi in Japanese,  possess strong and durable qualities, the more when one uses it,  the more gracefully it fits into your hand while retaining its lustre charm.

Dedication To care For Fountain Pen

In Namiki, the pen points like the iridium tip, as well as the  fountain pen nibs are all done within the company.  Namiki spares no effort to ensure the quality, precision and detail in every process during the production of a Namiki Pen.  Placing the writing touch and quality of the fountain pen is the strongest belief that sets Namiki pens apart from any other brands, be they Japanese or any other brands.
