Namiki Chinkin Bamboo and Sparrow Fountain Pen likened to a perfect combination, a bamboo and sparrow is a common motif in Japanese painting and other works of art. Also used, for example, in family coats of arms, the design is said to be an auspicious crest that expresses wishes for the perpetuation of descendants and for prosperity.  Bamboo grows straight, strong and never breaks., and sparrows make a lot of children. About Namiki

Namiki is the surname of Ryosuke Namiki, the founder of the Pilot, named Namiki Manufacturing Company until 1938 when it became Pilot Pen Co., Ltd.. The brand name Namiki came to fame in the early 20th Century when Dunhill retailed in the west the Maki-e pens produced by Pilot under the brand Dunhill-Namiki.
